National Ride A Bike Day

May is National Bike Month, a celebration of biking as transportation, as recreation, as essential to our well-being and everyday lives. May is also when the National Bike Challenge kicks off, and the challenge continues through September. In 2024, Bike to Work Week will be celebrated May 13-19, with Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week – Guided Sculpture Walk from 12:15 – 12:45 pm

Join Sculpture Walk Springfield (SWS) for a guided tour of select sculptures from the 9th Collection! Free parking is available at the corner of Boonville Avenue and Olive Street. They will meet in Park Central Square by the fountain. 

Bike, Walk & Wheel Week’s Yoga & Trail Views

Valley Water Mill Park 2450 E Valley Water Mill Rd, Springfield, MO, United States

Join Emery Bryant for a free yoga class in the pavilion at Valley Water Mill Park which is also home to a segment of the Fulbright Spring Greenway trail and the Watershed Center. The pavilion will open at 5:30 pm. Please bring your own yoga mat and water bottle.

Let’s Go Smart Bike & Talk

In Celebration of Bike, Walk, & Wheel Week the Let’s Go Smart Committee is planning to host a Bike and Talk on May 15th at 4 PM.
We will be meeting at the Cruse Dog Park to start the ride, and plan to ride to both ending points of the Jordan Creek Trail.

Ride of Silence

Ride in Silence meetup 211 E Olive St, Springfield, MO, United States

The Ride of Silence is a 12-mile Ride that passes by the locations where bicyclists have been fatally injured. At 6:55 a memorial will be read and the names of bicyclists killed in Springfield will be read. The ride begins at 7:00 and ends about 8:30 with a pace of about 10 mph. Include lights and reflective gear because the sun will set just before the end of the ride.

Celebrate the end of Bike, Walk & Wheel Week with a night at the movies on the Hatch Lawn at the Springfield Art Museum. We will be showing a series of short videos celebrating the benefits of active transportation!

Spring Roll C-Street & Nort Central

This slow-roll bicycle ride will depart from 216 W. Central Street (at Boonville Avenue). It will be led by a Springbike Bicycle Club volunteer. Free. Please bring your bicycle and helmet. The bicycle ride is 8 miles long and the average speed will be about 8pmh. The slow-roll will meander through the Grant Beach, Commercial Street, and Woodland Heights neighborhoods!
