Bike, Walk & Wheel Week
Bike Walk & Wheel Week — May 14-18, 2018 — Presented by HY-VEE
Where will your route take you? Which active transportation mode(s) will you choose that week to get to work, school, lunch, the store, to meetings, or to visit friends? Whether it’s your first time or you’re a pro at using Springfield’s active transportation options, plan to join us that week by leaving your car behind at least one time to get where you need to go — by biking, taking the bus, carpooling, walking, telecommuting, or any combination. Individuals and teams can participate! Schools are welcome to participate earlier if it fits their schedule better. Please share our Flier and Cher the Road video and The Link video and our cartoon PSA. Join us on social media for prizes and more!

GET READY — Choose mode, Plan route, Prep gear
Springfield has a network of 81 miles of on-street bike routes, and over 70 miles of greenways, and this event allows us to show them off! Find out how easy it can be for many residents to leave their car behind once in a while, or on a regular basis. Use our bike route & greenway maps and the City Utilities bus map, as well as tips from Let’s Go Smart and the League of American Bicyclists. Here’s how to wear your helmet properly and how to bike around town properly. And check out Springfield’s 12 cool bike aide stations.
FREE CITY BUS — Ride free that week when traveling with a bike
City Utilities will give free city bus rides all that week to those traveling with a bike! Each bus has an easy-to-use bike rack on the front. Springfield’s friendly bus drivers will happily help you with the rack, or your bus route, if needed.
