DESCRIPTION:This 12-mile ride is in memory of those killed or seriously injured while riding their bicycle. The meeting point is at the intersection of Boonville & Olive Streets:  211 E. Olive Street\, Springfield MO 65806.  Arrive at 6:45. Memorial reading is at 6:50. Ride starts promptly at 7:00 and ends just after sundown at 8:10 to 8:20. All participants must provide their bicycle\, helmet\, and lights\, and are encouraged to wear reflective clothing. The route is a 12-mile route on city streets with moderate to low volume and speed with stops at locations where bicycle fatalities have occurred. DESCRIPTION:Register today for The James River Basin Partnership’s annual Earth Day cleanup on Monday\, April 22\, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Lake Springfield. Partners for this event include Springfield-Greene County Parks and Recreation\, Bass Pro Shops\, and the Missouri Department of Conservation. \nThis is a FREE event open to anyone who would like to get out and make a difference in their community. We will have shoreline\, lake\, and river cleanup opportunities available. Pre-registration is required. \nExperienced floaters have the option to float a 4.75-mile section of the James River from Crighton Access to the Southwood Access. Shuttling from Southwood to Crighton Access will be provided. Paddlers will also launch from the Lake Springfield Boathouse to paddle to remote shorelines along the lake. \nBring your own boat or call and reserve one of ours for FREE. A limited number of canoes are available on a first come first serve basis\, so don’t delay. \nIf paddling isn’t your thing\, grab a trash bag and walk the shorelines of Lake Springfield and the James River. We will have multiple shoreline cleanup opportunities available including the Tailwaters Access and Clay Henshaw Memorial Access. \nTrash bags and gloves will be provided.

Improvements will include a new center turn lane\, traffic calming roundabout intersections at Luster Avenue and at Lone Pine Avenue and upgraded stormwater infrastructure and improved drainage along Luster Avenue. DESCRIPTION:Ozark Greenway’s (OG) 2024 Annual Meeting will be an open house on Thursday\, February 29\, 2024\, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.  This is a free event for Ozark Greenways members – past\, present\, and future! Please note\, that this free event is open to the community at large. \nThis year their Annual Meeting will be a drop-in open house format. Come and go as you please!  They will have information on display about their new Adopt-a-Trail Program at Fellows Lake Trails\, current trail projects\, incoming Board of Directors & Officers\, and land trust activities. The OG staff will be present to help answer questions\, share stories\, and provide updates. \nThey encourage everyone to stick around and attend the City of Springfield’s Forward SGF Speaker Series Event from 5:30-7:30 pm with Urban3’s Joe Minicozzie. This free event will take place in the Springfield Art Museum’s Theater. The main presentation will start around 6:00 pm. SUMMARY:Chadwick Flyer Trail Open House
DESCRIPTION:This is a drop-in open house; you may come and go as you please. Please note that the planning team will be making remarks at 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm (the same remarks will be presented both times).\n\nThe Chadwick Flyer Trail offers a vital active transportation corridor between the City of Ozark and the City of Springfield. It is a part of the growing regional trail system. Current efforts are focused on the approximately 12 miles between Sunshine Street in Springfield and the Ozark Community Center in Ozark.\nThe focus of the February 20\, 2024\, open house will be to share information and provide another opportunity for residents to review and provide comments on the proposed trail alignment between Kissick Avenue and Sunshine Street. Additional design\, engineering\, and public input will be conducted before the construction of the trail segment(s).\n\nProject Information:\nOzark Greenways contracted with Crawford\, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) to conduct a more in-depth study of this area. DESCRIPTION:Those interested in a project to improve traffic flow along Greene County Route D (East Sunshine Street) in Springfield are invited to a public hearing to discuss proposed improvements and project information on Tuesday\, February 6.\nThe come-and-go style meeting will be held 4:30 – 6 p.m.\, Tuesday\, February 6\, at Schweitzer Student Center\, 2701 E. Sunshine Street\, Springfield. No formal presentation is planned. Those who attend may come at any time between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to learn about the project and ask questions.\nThose unable to attend the in-person meeting can view exhibits\, get project information and leave comments by visiting www.modot.org/southwest.\nFor those unable to access the online meeting\, contact MoDOT’s Southwest District Office at 417.895.7600 and accommodations will be made to share the information and gather feedback.\nProject highlights:\n• Proposed improvements at various locations on Greene County Route D (Sunshine Street) between Business 65 (Glenstone Avenue) in Springfield and Farm Road 199 east of Springfield include:\no Signal improvements\no Sidewalk (ADA) improvements\no Intersection improvements\no Safety and traffic operations improvement by managing access\n• Resurfacing and pavement markings will be constructed between Business 65 (Glenstone Avenue) in Springfield and Missouri Route 125 east of Springfield.\nExpected traffic impacts during construction:\n• Lane closings on Greene County Route D (Sunshine Street) at times\n• Narrowed lanes and traffic shifts on Missouri Greene County Route D (Sunshine Street) at times\n• During higher traffic volume times\, drivers can expect occasional delays\n• During the intersection work\, turn lanes may be closed at times\n• Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas\n• Drivers may need to seek alternate routes to get to their destinations\nConstruction is scheduled to begin in 2025.\nThe estimated project cost is $10.7 million.
