DESCRIPTION:The public meeting to discuss the Sunshine Street (Missouri Route 413) Bridge Replacement Project over MNA Railroad in Springfield\, originally scheduled for Thursday\, February 20\, has been postponed due to this week’s winter weather. The meeting will be rescheduled. When details are determined\, a news release and message boards will advertise the new public meeting date and time. \n  \nThe Sunshine Street (Missouri Route 413) Bridge Replacement Project over MNA Railroad public meeting will discuss the traffic impacts during construction and project information. \nProject highlights: \n\nReplace Missouri Route 413 (Sunshine Street) bridge over MNA Railroad in Springfield\nAdd/improve pedestrian facilities on both sides of the roadway from Scenic Avenue to Marion Avenue\n\nTraffic impacts during construction: \n\nRoute 413 (Sunshine Street) CLOSED from east of Scenic Avenue to west of Marion Avenue for up to 4 months during construction\nDetour: James River Freeway\, Kansas Expressway\, Chestnut Expressway\, and U.S. Route 160\nDrivers are urged to use alternate routes during construction to avoid the work zone\nElectronic message boards and news releases will notify the public of traffic impacts\n\n  \nConstruction is scheduled to begin in March 2025. \nThe estimated project cost is $5.9 million. \n  \nView exhibits and get project information by visiting www.modot.org/southwest. \n

SUMMARY:Safe Streets Pop-Up Event
DESCRIPTION:The Ozarks Transportation Organization (OTO) invites the community to join a pop-up event on Monday\, October 7th\, from 1 PM to 4 PM\, as part of its Safe Streets for All initiative\, Destination Safe Streets. The event will take place on W Dale St between N Campbell Ave and N Boonville Ave in the Woodland Heights Neighborhood\, near 2100 N Boonville Ave\, Springfield\, MO 65803. \nThe event will temporarily transform a section of the roadway to demonstrate how simple\, low-cost changes can improve safety and accessibility for all users—pedestrians\, cyclists\, and drivers. Community members will have the chance to walk through the demonstration area\, see these changes in action\, and provide feedback on future street safety improvements. \nIn addition to interactive demonstrations\, the popular food truck “I Love Tacos” will be on-site\, offering delicious food throughout the event. OTO encourages residents to come out\, engage with the Safe Streets for All project team\, and enjoy the food and activities. \nThis event is part of the larger Safe Streets for All plan\, Destination Safe Streets\, which is focused on improving traffic safety and accessibility through thoughtful design and community participation. The Ozarks Transportation Organization remains dedicated to engaging with residents to shape safer streets for everyone.
